We are very pleased that we were allowed to take over this wonderful place since January 2020 and to continue under the name Retreat Hotel Z Aeschiried (pronounced in one piece, as we Bernese call the place anyway).

We are continually amazed by the idyllic location and the wonderful view of the mountains and Lake Thun.

What we do and why:

Z Hotel

The Retreat Hotel Z Aeschiried consists of two buildings. In the «Z Hotel» we accommodate individual guests and in the «Z Huus» mainly groups, seminars and companies and business groups.

Z Reschti

In our beautiful restaurant we are happy to offer you a regional Z Morge buffet or a Z Nacht from our small menu with regional specialties. Here you can arrive and relax. For more information about the opening hours and table reservations, see «Restaurant».

Z Social Enterprise

Z Aeschiried is operated as a social enterprise. As such, we create jobs and thus prospects for people in emergency situations who would otherwise have no opportunities on the labor market.

Z Team

Stefanie and Étienne have been running Z Aeschiried since 1 January 2020 together with a wonderful, diverse team and the support of many brilliant volunteers.

Z Living

People in urgent life circumstances are often not able to rent their own apartment. With the help of donations we have started to build simple living spaces where they can find a home for a shorter or longer period of time.
